An informative seminar focusing on the rising problem of obesity in Ireland; its causes, effects and solutions.

Park West Clinic is hosting a free half day seminar to highlight and inform the Irish people about the risks linked to excess weight and obesity.

"The objective of the seminar is to create a platform of awareness and to highlight possible solutions. The seminar will include a look at the available treatments and support to help resolve this major problem for the long-term. And in doing so, will best assist patients in their journey towards a new and healthier life" added Sarah Millea, the clinic co-ordinator.

According to statistics 48% of the Irish population are overweight with 25% being obese, this can lead to a higher risk of diabetes and heart disease. Currently in Ireland heart disease is the No. 1 Killer, with approximately 10,000 deaths per year. This seminar sets out to properly inform people about advanced techniques in the treatment of obesity and aims to help people to live a healthier life.

This is an interactive seminar where everyone will have the opportunity to talk directly to a professional team of obesity specialists including; surgeons, dieticians and psychologists.

The seminar will include:

• information on obesity and associated health risks
• obesity treatments, both surgical and non-surgical
• an introduction to the medical support team

Everyone is welcome at this seminar whether you come from a medical background or not. Maybe you have struggled with your weight throughout your life, are currently overweight or obese or you are just interested in learning more.
