A common question that our consultants get asked by many of our clients is:
‘Can I get liposuction and a tummy tuck in the same surgery?’
And the answer is yes!
The combination of a tummy tuck and liposuction is incredibly popular and a great way to help people get the body shape they’re looking for.
Today we’re going to take a deep dive into the benefits of liposuction with a tummy tuck and help you figure out if these procedures are right for you.
Liposuction is the second most popular cosmetic surgery and it’s a procedure that helps remove any unwanted fat. During a liposuction procedure, a surgeon will suction out the fat from the chosen area on your body. They do this by using a tube that’s inserted into a small incision in your skin.
Liposuction works great for people who’ve already lost some weight and aren’t far off their ideal weight. Liposuction is mainly used to tackle any areas of your body that struggle to lose fat at the same rate as other areas. So if you’ve got some fat that just doesn’t want to shift, liposuction could be the answer you’re looking for.

A tummy tuck will remove any excess skin and fat from the middle and lower area of your stomach. It tightens the abdominal muscles underneath and gives you the body shape you’ve dreamed of.

Combining a tummy tuck with liposuction of the abdomen is a popular option. It’s important to note that the liposuction used for this procedure won’t be very aggressive, and it’s only used to assist the tummy tuck.
Instead, it’s often advised that you opt for liposuction on the flanks or your sides instead of your abdomen when you get a tummy tuck. By getting liposuction performed here, you’ll notice that your clothes will fit better, and you’re more likely to drop a couple of dress sizes.
Patients are always thrilled with the results of liposuction with a tummy tuck as the results often give you a:
Some other popular areas to get liposuction done with a tummy tuck include:
If you get liposuction of the abdomen performed with a tummy tuck, just like any other surgery, there are risks.
It’s usually recommended that you avoid liposuction of the abdomen itself when getting a tummy tuck done. Instead, you should consider getting your sides or chest done to help give you your desired shape.
The reason it’s riskier to get liposuction on your abdomen with a tummy tuck is that the area might take longer to heal afterwards.
It is possible to get liposuction of the abdomen done at the same time as a mini-tummy tuck, but we’d advise discussing all your options with your doctor before you commit to any treatment.
There are many benefits to adding liposuction to your tummy tuck procedure. Here are two of the main advantages of this combined procedure.
Your plastic surgeon will be able to get rid of any fat that’s being a bit difficult, fix loose skin and repair your muscle tissue all at the same time. By getting all of this completed under the same procedure, you’ll only have one recovery period instead of two separate ones. .
When combining liposuction with a tummy tuck, you’ll be able to make the most out of your results. You’ll be able to treat excess fat and loose skin at the same time, making it an efficient and effective procedure that will provide you with the results you’re looking for.
We hope we’ve helped you understand how you can combine your procedures to get effective results.
