Laser Hair Removal
Smoother, softer skin free from unwanted hair
About this treatment
Background to the procedure
Laser light travels through the skin to the hair follicle. This light is absorbed by the pigment in hair, causing enough heat to damage the follicle and terminate hair growth.
The best candidates for laser hair removal are patients with light skin and dark coarse hair, though advancements in technology have allowed patients with virtually any hair colour to be successfully treated. Laser hair removal can be used on any part of the body leaving a silky smooth feel even on sensitive skin.
What would I expect at the consultation?
All consultations are private one-on-one sessions that normally last 15-20 minutes. Your Doctor will talk you through the procedure, any concerns you may have and your expectations of the results.
What is involved with Laser Hair Removal?
A course of treatment is recommended to get the maximum benefit. Depending on the thickness of the hair and the area to be treated we recommend either a course of 4 or 8 treatments. Facial hair is treated every 4 weeks and body hair is treated every 6 weeks.
What is the recovery after Laser Hair Removal?
Your Doctor will advise if there is anything you need to avoid following treatment such as fake tan, extensive sun or heat exposure.
What are the risks of complication?
Any potential complications will be discussed during consultation and you will be given a copy in writing.
Aftercare
Patient care has always been at the forefront of everything we do, this is why we are a leading cosmetic surgery provider in Ireland. We believe that ‘aftercare’ is just as important a part of the entire cosmetic treatment procedure as the treatment itself. With Auralia, you can be rest assured that all your aftercare needs will be completely fulfilled, providing you the support you need for a fast and stress-free recovery.
FAQs
How long does laser hair removal last?
Everyone responds differently to treatment, however laser hair removal provides long lasting results. While some individuals may see 100% reduction in hair growth, most people see anywhere from 70-90% reductions. Annual maintenance visits will ensure that the last bit of re-growth is eliminated, leaving you with smooth, hair-free skin year round.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Patients describe each pulse as feeling like the snapping of a rubber band against the skin and, whilst uncomfortable, is not painful.
What will my skin look like afterwards?
You may have some redness in the skin, this is completely normal and generally settles within 24 hours. Most people can get treated during their lunch time and there will be no visible indications of a treatment when they return to their office.
