About this treatment
Background to microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical, non-invasive procedure that uses a spray of microcrystals to remove the outermost layer of dry, dead skin cells to reveal younger, healthier-looking skin. Microdermabrasion also encourages the production of a new underlying layer of skin cells with higher levels of collagen and elastin, which further improves your skin’s appearance.
Benefits of microdermabrasion
- Suitable for all skin types
- More effective at removing dead skin cells than chemical peels
- Treatment encourages better cellular renewal, improving elasticity, overall texture and reduces signs of ageing
- The treatment is flexible, so patients can tailor their treatment for their individual skin type needs
- Instant, visible results as the treatment does not require any recovery time
- Following treatment, the skin is in a better condition to absorb anti-ageing and acne creams
Skin creams and serums work better with microdermabrasion
No skin product, anti-wrinkle cream or serum can match the anti-aging results that medical microdermabrasion can achieve. Skin products that are applied topically cannot reach the lower layers where deep wrinkles reside. But by removing the dead damaged skin on top and then using a skin product which is specifically designed to feed and hydrate the cells underneath you can help reduce wrinkles deep in the lower dermis. By removing the upper dermal layers, microdermabrasion allows specific skin products to become much more powerful and beneficial to your skin.
What results can you expect?
Regardless of your skin’s condition, most patients will notice an improvement in their skin’s appearance. Fine lines and age spots may be erased. Acne scars and stretch marks will be less obvious. Many patients report that their skin seems softer, smoother and younger-looking.
How many treatments will I need?
Every person is different and reacts to cosmetic procedures in an individual way, but generally 4 microdermabrasion treatments done 7-10 days apart are required for most people to achieve optimal results.
How long do treatments take?
Microdermabrasion treatments usually last about 10 to 30 minutes, which means it can be done in your lunch break. However, treatments for stretch marks can take as long as two hours. During your session we focus on your problem areas, but time can be given to other areas of concern.
Aftercare
Patient care has always been at the forefront of everything we do. We believe that ‘aftercare’ is just as important a part of the entire cosmetic treatment procedure as the treatment itself.
