Thigh Lift

This treatment refines the thigh area leaving it firm and tight

Patients who would like tighter firmer thighs may benefit from a surgical procedure such known as a thigh lift. In many cases, patients have experienced a large weight loss, resulting in a “saggy” appearance to the skin – a thigh lift can help patients achieve the look they had in mind when they decided to lose weight. A surgical thigh lift removes skin that has lost its elasticity, improving the overall appearance of the thigh area, although often focusing specifically on the inner thigh. Also post-operative to bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery) patients may want to shape or tone their inner and upper thighs. In this case, the thigh lift procedure would be more of a refining measure to “tighten” and polish the already newly transformed physique. Women who work out frequently but have a more difficult time getting rid of those fatty pockets in their legs may benefit from thigh lift surgery. The surgery can allow you to have a better proportion especially dealing with stubborn fatty pockets.

Thank you so much for a wonderful job and taking care of me. I am really happy with my procedure and would recommend anyone to come to this clinic. Everybody was so nice and polite and most importantly did a wonderful job.

About this treatment

Background to the procedure

Thigh lifts require general anesthesia, and can be combined with other related procedures, such as tummy tucks and liposuction. A thigh lift surgery alone usually takes around two hours to complete. The incision used to perform a thigh lift is placed in the groin area beneath the bikini line. A crescent of skin is removed from the groin, then the tissues below the incision are loosened and the “thigh lift” takes place as the skin is pulled up and the incision sutured shut. Deep stitches are used in the thigh lift to secure the skin to ligament and bone, preventing sagging as the incisions heal. Drains are placed in the incisions to prevent excess fluids after the thigh lift surgery, and are usually removed within a few days.

What to expect at my consultation

All consultations are private one-on-one sessions with Dr. Salman that normally last 15-20 minutes. During your consultation Dr. Salman provides a clear understanding of the procedure, as well as an accurate picture of how your thighs will look after the surgery. He will clearly discuss any potential risks of the procedure and answer any questions you might have.

What is involved with thigh lift surgery

Liposuction is typically recommended for those patients who primarily have excess fat with tight skin. However, if the skin does not shrink following liposuction, the patient may want to consider a thigh lift procedure. Liposuction is not a good solution if your problem is due to loose skin. When the skin is loose, a ‘lift’ surgery is usually the best choice.

What is the recovery after thigh lift surgery

Following a surgical thigh lift, most patients experience minimal pain that is easily controlled with medication. Any swelling is usually gone within two or three weeks and there is rarely bruising associated with thigh lift surgery.

Patients should expect to be off from work for around a week, although most individuals are able to get up and move around within a few days of the thigh lift. In fact, it is important that, even if you feel sore, to walk or move around frequently after your thigh lift surgery to ensure proper passage of blood flow and to avoid clots. Keeping joints mobile will aid in healthy blood circulation.

The sutures will come out within a week to ten days, and the results of the thigh lift are almost immediately available.

What are the risks of complication?

All surgeries, no matter how safe, carry some amount of risk, including infection, scarring and pain. You will have a chance to talk frankly with your surgeon about any worries you might have, and any possible risks will be clearly and honestly communicated with you before you make any decisions. You’ll also be given a copy of everything in writing, so you can take them home and go through them at your own pace. We’re also here for you if you have any questions!
